Take off your Pants!

Today my mom and I went shopping together. I was hoping to get some good deals on fall clothes for both Madeline and Anthony (our baby due in 2 months, for those of you who may not know). Anyway, we hit some really good sales and I was able to buy some nice clothes at great deals, so I was pretty happy about that.

Along the way I assisted my mom with finding new clothes for herself. She likes to call me her personal shopper. I basically walk through stores, tell her what I like, and she tries it on. She holds up stuff that she thinks might be cute and I am brutally honest with her, usually telling her that the clothes she is picking out are tacky, ugly, horrible, etc. It works well!

She also had a very successful day finding lots of great deals on cute clothes. At one point she was trying on some cardigans at Ann Taylor. They were buy one get one half off so she felt compelled to find 2 to purchase. One was a black and white print, and the other was a green, black, and white print. She was trying them on with her khaki capris and apparently couldn’t get the “full effect” of them since she felt she needed to see what they would look like with a black pair of pants.

I offered to go pick out some black pants for her to try them on with, and this is the conversation that ensued:

Mom: I don’t need you to get me pants

Amy: Why not? I don’t mind. I can just go find a pair in your size

Mom: Just give me your pants

Amy:Ummmm, I’m wearing maternity pants, what do you want me to do?

Mom: Take them off and give them to me

Amy: Are you kidding me?

Mom: …Silence…

(I guess she is not kidding)

So, I proceeded to take my black maternity pants off and handed them to my mom. I tried to convince her that she should put them on, because I thought it would be pretty amusing to see my mom wearing a pair of my maternity pants. She didn’t feel the need to wear them. So, I sat in the dressing room, in my underwear, with my mom while she tried on the cardigans and held my black maternity pants in front of her khakis so she could get the “full effect.”

Eventually I was able to put my pants back on and Mom decided to buy both cardigans. These are the sacrifices I make in order to help my mom purchase the perfect fall wardrobe!
