Yesterday was my birthday. I turned 28. Unlike David I don’t feel old. I’ve never been the type of person to freak out about my age. Now, I would definitely be one to freak out about premature wrinkles, crows feet, and the jiggly skin underneath women’s arms, but the actual number of years old I am doesn’t really get to me too much.
We had a busy day yesterday. Madeline decided to sleep in, so after she woke up David and I quickly jumped out of bed, got ready for church and headed out the door. Every Sunday before church we stop at the Starbucks located in Target, which is right by church, so that I can grab a Chai. David drops me off at the front door and waits with Madeline while I run in to grab my favorite morning treat.
Well, I hopped in line and immediately heard the girl working behind the counter explaining to customers that their steamer was broken and they couldn’t make hot drinks. Happy Birthday to me! I was really craving my Chai too, but I had to leave with no Chai in hand. So far my birthday was not looking too good!
After church we went to my parents’ house for lunch and had a nice time eating lunch with my family. Madeline helped me blow out the candles on my birthday cake and then proceeded to lick each candle as I pulled it out of the cake. She liked that job! Actually I am pretty sure she thought it was her birthday. She sat in my lap while everyone sang Happy Birthday to me, and she happily looked around the room smiling at everyone with a very approving look on her face, no doubt loving the fact that she was the center of attention.
After we finished up lunch David took me to Starbucks so that I could get some Chai flowing through my veins before my body started to go into shock from Chai withdrawal symptoms. We then rushed home and changed into our Packers gear because we were headed to Green Bay for the Packers game.
One of the company’s that David does business with was taking us to the game. We were headed there with David’s brother and his fiance as well as one of David’s sales reps. At 2:30 the limo rolled up to our house…yeah I said limo. We got to take a limo to the game. I’d like to say it was because we are such big VIP’s and that’s just how we travel around town, but it was actually because the company taking us preferred to transfer all of the liability over to the limo company instead of taking it upon themselves in case of an accident. We were pretty happy about that!
This is the 4th year in a row that this particular company has taken us to a game, and the first year with a limo and let me just tell you there is no better way to do it. We all relaxed, ate, and drank (I had to limit the amount of liquids I ingested because I was pretty sure that everyone else in the limo did not want to stop every half hour for the pregnant chick with the weak bladder) in comfort the whole way up there and rolled up to the stadium about 45 minutes before kickoff, since we didn’t need to worry about parking.
The weather was perfect…it couldn’t have been a more perfect temperature! The game? Well that’s a different story. If you happened to catch the game you would know that it was a disappointment to say the least. It was still a lot of fun to go to. Even though they didn’t win, just being in Lambeau Field is always a fun experience.
When it was time to leave we called our limo driver and he came and picked us up right outside of the stadium and once again that was wonderful! We didn’t have to walk a mile to get to our car and worry about getting out of a parking spot. We just hopped in and headed home.
Unfortunately I have not mastered the art of sleeping wherever my head may fall. I have pretty intense bedtime requirements that involve me being completely horizontal (no falling asleep on the couch for me!), having the right amount of blankets, equally divided between both sides of the bed, with no wrinkles in the sheets, white noise blasting in the background…you get the point? So, yeah, David was asleep within approximately 5 minutes snoring away the whole drive home. I ended up sitting in my seat while my baby did a little jig on my bladder. Let’s just say that this little guy is EXTREMELY active all night long, so I am kind of dreading what he will be like once he is outside of my belly.
Anyway, I don’t think I got into bed until about 2:30 am and I am pretty tired today. I see an early bedtime in my future tonight!
Standing outside of our ride
Riding in comfort
Outside the stadium
In the stands
Right before the game started
All of the fans waving their Packers flags (Madeline was pretty happy when we brought our flags home for her, although she is calling them umbrellas)
