I’ve been MIA for the past few days because we were camping. This past weekend was David’s family reunion, which was held at a campground, so it was a great opportunity to use our camper.
I also used it as an opportunity to take a little break from my shredding. Not before my brother wanted to prove to me that I was a big wimp, so he did the video with me too. I have to admit that he is in pretty good shape, but I did hear some huffing and puffing from him and there was a decent amount of complaining about the 8 pound weights that he had to use (he didn’t buy my whole “you’re a guy, so you’re weights should be heavier than mine” argument). I also determined that while he may have inherited the skinny, athletic genes in our family I was most certainly the one blessed with coordination and flexibility. It was pretty comical watching my brother trying to do the hip spins, squats, and lunges. As a matter of fact, it’s pretty comical to watch any man do the hip spins.
Anyway, back to camping…
Anthony enjoyed crawling around the camper exploring things

Until he cracked his head on the door

This is Madeline’s new “smile for the camera” face. Nice!

Playing on some of the “animals” at the campground (there’s that smile)

Our camper has 3 bunk beds. Madeline sleeps on the bottom bunk (basically the floor with a mattress on it), and Anthony sleeps on the middle bunk. Michele rigged up a fancy system in our camper so that our kids could sleep there without having to worry about them falling out of bed. It worked beautifully and it was so much better than having to bring along a Pack N Play for him.

Here is Anthony meeting one of his cousins (in David’s family, if you don’t want to bother figuring out exactly how a person is related, you just call them a cousin). This is Mackynzie, David’s cousin Lyndsay’s little girl.

Anthony spent some time on the swings. I think it was his first time on a park swing (although he has a swing at Mimi and Papa’s house that he is very fond of, and spends quite a bit of time in!).

Here is Madeline sitting at the bar having a drink. This is how we do it up here in the Midwest, folks.

And this is what we did with the kids while we were camping to keep them out of trouble

Anthony was trying to gnaw his way to freedom with his 3 little teeth!
Overall the camping trip was lots of fun. The weather was beautiful, it was relaxing, and having lots of family around was great (i.e. there were plenty of breaks for David and I from kid duty).
Today I am back to the grind. I picked back up with my 30 day shred…today was day 6. I’ve never really been a big fan of working out, but I keep trying to remind myself that I need to get into shape, and do some toning and I figure for 20 minutes I can suffer through it.
